LOCKED DOWN IN MIAMI
Date: January 1, 1994
FSU defenders swarmed Nebraska all night in the 1994 Orange Bowl. CB Corey Sawyer (No. 8) and DL Derrick Alexander (No. 90) were standouts in the 18-16 win that sealed the program’s first National Championship. Sawyer, a consensus All-American, made five tackles while Alexander tallied a team-leading 11 tackles. Their efforts helped shut down the Cornhusker attack and secured FSU’s place at the top of college football.
