LOCKDOWN LEGACY
Date: 1990s
CB Corey Sawyer famously wore No. 8 during his standout career at FSU. A two-time All-ACC selection and 1993 All-American, Sawyer brought elite speed and playmaking ability to the Seminole secondary during the early 1990s, contributing to two Orange Bowl appearances and a dominant run under coach Bobby Bowden. Born in Key West and raised in Miami, Sawyer made an immediate impact at FSU as a lockdown corner and electric punt returner. He was selected in the second round of the 1993 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals and played several seasons in the NFL.
