HOWSER’S HOUSE
Date: May 14, 2022
Dick Howser Stadium was named for one of the FSU baseball’s most accomplished figures. A native of St. Petersburg, Florida, Dick Howser became the program’s first All-American in 1957, repeating the honor in 1958, and was later inducted into the FSU Athletics Hall of Fame with the 1977 class. After college, he played in the major leagues before building a successful managerial career, highlighted by leading the Kansas City Royals to the 1985 World Series title. The Seminole stadium was renamed in his honor in 1988, a testament to Howser’s impact on FSU baseball as a standout player and a coach who excelled at every level of the sport.
