HOW SWEDE IT IS
Though M Emma Breland spent only one season in Tallahassee, she left a notable mark on program history. A Swedish exchange student recruited from a Tennessee high school, Breland led the Seminoles in 2000 with 31 points (12 goals, seven assists), nearly double the amount of the next player on the leader board. Breland’s 12 goals set a freshman record, while her goal and two assists against Jacksonville in the NCAA Tournament helped FSU to the first NCAA Tournament victory in program history. “She makes it easy to play up front with her,” said future FSU Hall of Famer Cindy Schofield. “She works hard.” Breland was named to the NSCAA/adidas All-Southeast team, as well as First Team All-Conference and the ACC All-Freshman team. She returned to Sweden after the season to attend to a family matter.
