FROZEN FINAL
Cold rain, a packed College Cup crowd and a national title on the line defined FSU’s appearance in the 2013 NCAA National Championship match. Playing at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina, the No. 3 Seminoles carried a 23-2-3 record into the final against No. 2 UCLA after another commanding postseason run under head coach Mark Krikorian. The match remained scoreless through regulation, pushing the championship into overtime — the first title game to do so since 2002 — before UCLA claimed a 1-0 victory on a golden goal in the 97th minute. Goalkeeper Kelsey Wys delivered a strong performance in the net, while leaders such as M Dagny Brynjarsdottir and D Kassey Kallman anchored a group that had become a fixture on the sport’s biggest stage.
