AMONG THE FINAL FOUR, AGAIN

Fourth-ranked FSU’s run at the 2012 Women’s College Cup came to a close with a 2-1 overtime loss to No. 5 Penn State at Torero Stadium in San Diego, California, ending an outstanding 20-4-0 campaign. After F Tiffany McCarty’s late header forced overtime, Penn State scored the golden goal just over a minute into the extra period. “It stings a little bit,” said head coach Mark Krikorian, “because you come into this with the intent and hope to play on Sunday and we won’t.” This signed ball reflects both the heartbreak and the foundation laid by a class that delivered ACC titles and multiple College Cup appearances.
