FIRST VICTORY IN THE SWAMP
Date: November 25, 1967
On November 25, 1967, the Florida State Seminoles achieved one of the most pivotal wins in program history, defeating the No. 18-ranked Florida Gators in Gainesville, 21-16. It was the first time FSU defeated Florida on the road, a milestone moment that ended years of frustration in the rivalry. The game was filled with drama and grit. QB Kim Hammond, who had been knocked out of the game earlier from a punishing hit, returned in the fourth quarter to lead the comeback. He connected with WR Ron Sellers for a 38-yard touchdown, sealing the win and stunning the home crowd in Gainesville. The win capped a standout regular season for FSU, who finished 7-2-1 and ranked No. 15 in the final Coaches Poll.
