DREW THE LINE
This 1997 Golden Field Award from USA Baseball recognized fielding Golden Spikes winner J.D. Drew. By winning the award, Drew brought renewed national acclaim to the Seminole baseball program. He achieved a “triple-triple” in the 1997 season, recording 100-plus hits, 100-plus runs scored and 100-plus RBIs, one of only three college players to do so. Drew ran the gambit of major collegiate awards before being drafted into the majors in 1998. At the end of his Seminole career, Drew held the program records for most runs in a single season (110 in 1997), most career grand slams (six, tied) and career on-base percentage (.521). The right fielder was inducted into the College Baseball Foundation Hall of Fame in 2016.
