CONFERENCE OF CHAMPIONS
FSU joined the Metro Conference in 1976 and immediately proved they were a force to be reckoned with. In the 1977 season, the Seminoles rolled through their conference games with a 4-1 record. In the three-day conference tournament, FSU outscored their opposition 40-13 and committed just five errors. The team knocked out conference leaders Memphis State and Louisville en route to a winner-take-all matchup against Tulane for the Metro Conference Championship. OF Terry Kennedy knocked in seven RBIs and 1B Joe Hicks drove in three as the Noles trashed the Green Wave, 11-1. The baseball Metro Championship win was just one of nine conference championships Florida State locked down in the spring of 1977.
