Base runners didn’t have much luck against IF Sydney Sherrill, who took home her second ACC Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2021. That season, Sherrill posted a .974 fielding percentage along with 67 putouts and a team-high 121 assists. She made only two errors in 32 ACC games, a remarkable achievement for the third baseman. In the batter’s box, Sherrill went .304 with 51 base hits and 34 RBIs. Sherrill had been a member of the 2018 National Championship team and provided leadership as the Seminoles made another deep run to the 2021 Women’s College World Series (WCWS). She recorded 12 assists in the WCWS, just one shy of the tournament record. A nod to her versatility, at the end of her career Sherrill was second in program history with 555 assists and first in ACC history with 82 doubles.
