COLE’S TOURNEY

FSU guard Otis Cole fought for position in the paint during the 1972 NCAA Championship Game. Though Cole played 10 minutes without scoring in the final, his earlier tournament efforts were vital to FSU’s historic run. He notched 10 points against Eastern Kentucky in the first round and added another 10 in the Sweet 16 win over Minnesota. The sophomore from Kings Mountain, North Carolina, embodied the depth and determination of a team that shocked the college basketball world by advancing all the way to the title game before falling 81-76.
