CLOSING THE OPENING DAY CHAPTER

In one of the program’s greatest traditions, Mike Martin joined his team on the baseline for his final Opening Day in 2019. “Mike loved [Opening Day], he looked forward to it so much,” said Carol Martin, the wife of the late coach, in 2025. “Mike loved his job but he never considered it a job; it was his passion.” Over Martin’s 40-year head coaching tenure, the Seminoles posted a 36-4 record in their first games of the season. That included the 10th no-hitter in program history in an 11-0 win over Maine on Martin’s last Opening Day. What a sendoff!
