CHARLIE HAD PLENTY OF A-WARDS
Date: February 7, 1994
Charlie Ward became the first Seminole to take home the Davey O’Brien Memorial Trophy, given to the nation’s most outstanding college quarterback. In the 1993 season, Ward completed nearly 70 percent of his passes for 3,032 yards and 27 touchdowns. The award was named after TCU star QB Davey O’Brien, who won the Maxwell Award, the Heisman Trophy and a National Championship in 1938. Fifty-five years later, Ward also claimed the Maxwell, Heisman and a national title, along with the O’Brien Trophy.
