BRINGING IT HOME
As FSU entered the 2023 postseason, starting catcher Michaela Edenfield kept making contact. She recorded a hit in eight of 11 NCAA Tournament and Women’s College World Series (WCWS) games, which included a seven-game hitting streak. Two of those hits were towering home runs in FSU victories. In FSU’s first WCWS game against No. 6 Oklahoma State, Edenfield connected on the first pitch she faced for a two-run blast. The ball was struck so well, broadcaster Beth Mowins noted that “The outfielders won’t even bother to head toward the wall!” Edenfield also had a solo homer against No. 4 Tennessee in the semifinals to tie the game. The redshirt sophomore was a solid hitter throughout the season, leading the Seminoles with 56 RBIs and 13 home runs.
