A RESILIENT SEASON
Date: 1993 Season
Dubbed “The Game of the Century”, No. 1 FSU met No. 2 Notre Dame during the historic 1993 season. In the back-and-forth contest, the Seminoles ultimately fell to the Irish, 31-24. However, FSU quickly bounced back, defeating North Carolina State, 62-3, the following week and reclaiming the No. 1 spot in the nation. Ultimately, in the final polls of the season, FSU ranked No. 1 and became consensus National Champions for the first time in program history. For all his heroics in rallying the Seminoles, QB Charlie Ward was the no-brainer winner of the Heisman Trophy.
