HUNGRY FOR MORE
Date: 1999 Season
Ahead of the 2000 Nokia Sugar Bowl, QB Chris Weinke discussed the importance of bouncing back from the 1999 Fiesta Bowl loss that cost FSU a national title. “With all due respect to last year’s seniors, they left without a championship ring and it only made this team more hungry,” Weinke said. “We’ve been here three of the last four years and none of us are wearing a ring. That’s what we’re here for.” The future Heisman winner balled out in the Sugar Bowl, going 20-of-34 with 329 yards and four touchdowns. Thanks to Weinke and entire team, the Seminoles finally claimed a ring. This particular Sugar Bowl Championship ring belonged to head coach Bobby Bowden.
