ACC-ELERATING TO NINE STRAIGHT

Nine ACC seasons had produced nine championships for the Garnet and Gold by the end of 2000. FSU swept the conference with an 8-0 record, winning seven ACC games by at least 29 points and closing ACC play with a 35-6 victory over Wake Forest on the road. QB Chris Weinke powered the nation’s top offense that season, passing for 4,167 yards and 33 touchdowns on his way to the Heisman Trophy. The Noles finished 11-2 and reached a third consecutive BCS National Championship Game, extending one of college football’s defining runs.
