TALLAHASSEE’S TAKEAWAY MACHINE
Eight years after FSU retired Terrell Buckley’s No. 27 jersey, the College Football Hall of Fame bestowed him with the sport’s highest honor. Buckley was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2019, becoming just the second FSU cornerback elected. A native of Pascagoula, Mississippi, Buckley roamed the Seminole secondary from 1989 to 1991. He set program records with 21 career interceptions and 501 career yards on returns — the latter set an NCAA record — and he led the nation with 12 picks and 238 yards on returns in the 1991 campaign. Buckley also returned three career punts for touchdowns, showcasing his versatility on special teams. No matter where he lined up, opposing teams knew No. 27 posed a threat.
