FORGING A FOUNDATION
Built through years of postseason experience, FSU returned to the College Cup in 2006 for the third time in four seasons, finishing the year with an 18-4-4 record and one of the strongest senior classes in program history. The No. 5 Seminoles faced top-ranked Notre Dame in the national semifinal, falling 2-1 after a relentless second-half push. M India Trotter scored six minutes into the second half after being moved into the attack, sparking sustained pressure that nearly produced an equalizer. “I thought it was a very good soccer game,” head coach Mark Krikorian said. “Good game, tough result for us but that’s the way this game goes.” The match underscored FSU’s growing identity as a national contender.
