Brian Pensky was named the fourth head coach in program history in April 2022. He was previously head coach at Tennessee. Since Pensky’s arrival, the Seminoles have won one National Championship (2023) and three ACC Championships while making two College Cup appearances. Pensky earned ACC Coach of the Year honors in 2023, the same season FSU posted an impressive 22-0-1 record. He holds a 58-5-9 record as of the end of the 2024 season.
One of the most successful coaches in college soccer history, Mark Krikorian became FSU’s head coach ahead of the 2005 season. Previously, Krikorian served as head coach of Franklin Pierce College, where he won two DII National Championships, and the University of Hartford. Krikorian guided the Seminoles to three National Championships (2014, 2018 and 2021), eight ACC Championships and 11 College Cup appearances. He was a five-time ACC Coach of the Year winner and honored as top coach in the nation by Soccer America, NSCAA, Top Drawer Soccer and United Soccer Coaches. Over 17 seasons in Tallahassee, Krikorian compiled a 310-67-36 record. FSU had six 20-win seasons and no losing seasons under his leadership.
Patrick Baker, the former head coach at Penn, was named Seminole head coach in December 1998. Under his tenure, FSU made their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2000 and first College Cup appearance in 2003. He also earned Coach of the Year honors from Soccer America following the 2003 season. Baker compiled an 80-46-11 overall record and had winning records in five of six seasons.
Heather Kerby-Nelson became the first head coach in program history on November 17, 1994, ahead of the program’s first season in 1995. Previously, she was a member of the Canadian national women’s team and a coach at Canada’s National Coaching School for Women. Kerby-Nelson guided the Seminoles to a 31-44-5 record over four seasons.
