WINNING ON THE BIGGEST STAGE
A native of Osceola, Indiana, Danielle Watson’s hometown was fitting for a Seminole pitcher. Watson finished the 2021 season with a 2.63 ERA, 98 strikeouts and a 12-2 record, good for second most wins on the team. She earned the win in three of her five postseason appearances, including No. 10 FSU’s lone victory over No. 1 Oklahoma in the three-game finals of the Women’s College World Series. Facing a white-hot Sooner offense, Watson took a no-hitter into the 4th inning and struck out five in 5.2 innings on the mound. The Seminoles went on to claim the 8-4 win. “Danielle is one of the most competitive people I’ve ever met,” said teammate LF Kaley Mudge. “She’s grown so much since being here so it’s really fun to see her compete on the stage and succeed.”
