THE KICKER’S KNICKERS
Date: 1990s
These football pants were worn by All-American kicker Sebastian Janikowski during his time at FSU in the late 1990s. Janikowski, who was born in Walbrzych, Poland, played only one year of high school ball before joining the FSU team. Known for his booming leg and larger-than-life personality, Janikowski helped solidify FSU’s dominance under Bobby Bowden. He became the first kicker ever selected in the first round of the NFL Draft in 2000, after Janikowski won back-to-back Lou Groza Awards in 1998 and 1999. Bowden once said of him, “He could kick it from Tallahassee to Tampa if we needed it.”
