Perhaps SS Josie Muffley’s biggest moment of 2023 came against Lipscomb in FSU’s second game of the season. When a Bison player hit a fly ball toward the edge of the diamond, Muffley ran to shallow left field and made a spectacular leaping catch to rob the hitter of extra bases. Nicknamed the “Human Highlight Reel,” Muffley’s catch earned the No. 1 spot on SportsCenter Top 10 the next day. Muffley appeared in all 11 NCAA Tournament games in the 2023 postseason. She had more highlights there, including a line-drive catch and turning double-play against No. 7 Washington to preserve the lead and help No. 3 FSU advance to the semifinals. Muffley was a member of both National Championship runner-up teams in 2021 and 2023.
