STANDARD IN THE DUGOUT
Date: 1980s to 1990s
This Mike Martin jersey represents the coach who set the standard for excellence in FSU baseball. Taking over the Seminole program in 1980, Martin built a model of consistency that became the gold standard in NCAA baseball. Over 40 seasons, his teams reached the postseason 40 times and appeared in 17 College World Series. Beyond the eye-popping stats, Martin was known for demanding preparation, accountability and respect for the game. Former Seminole Doug Mientkiewicz summed up Martin’s impact simply: “Coach Martin taught us how to prepare every single day. It wasn’t just about baseball. It was about being ready for whatever came next.”
