SOLO FROM SHELNUTT
Date: June 4, 2018
Catcher Anna Shelnutt was greeted by her teammates at home plate after delivering the decisive swing of Game 1 of the 2018 Women’s College World Series finals. A sophomore from Franklin, Georgia, Shelnutt hit a solo home run in the top of the 6th inning, accounting for the game’s only run in a 1-0 shutout of No. 5 Washington. She finished 1-for-2 at the plate, with her home run standing as one of FSU’s five hits in the game. “Everybody battling earlier in the game is what got me that one pitch that I could drive out,” Shelnutt said. The No. 6 Seminoles limited the Huskies to five hits as well, setting the tone for a championship series sweep that concluded the following night.
