RIGHT SIDE OF THE RIVALRY
Although F Beata Olsson transferred from rival Florida, the Seminoles welcomed her into their dynasty in 2021. “This team is like I expected,” Olsson said during her first season in Tallahassee. “Of course, they are great on the field, and that’s the main reason I got here, but they’re even better people.” After winning the National Championship that season, Olsson channeled that same energy as FSU tried to repeat the feat in 2023. Olsson finished second on the team with nine assists (tied with F Jordynn Dudley) and fourth overall with 23 points. She had three goals and three assists throughout the NCAA Tournament, including a goal and a pair of assists as No. 1 FSU knocked off No. 3 Stanford in the College Cup Final for the second National Championship of her career. Olsson’s 27 career goals remain in the program’s top 10 today, matching fellow Noles greats Onyi Echegini and Berglind Thorvaldsdottir.
