PLAYING BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL
Date: November 22, 1952
The 1952 season was head coach Don Veller’s fifth and final season at the helm. While the Seminoles had only one win that season, there was still a shining star on the team — co-captain Curt Campbell. Campbell played both sides of the ball at left end and safety. “Curt is one of the finest pass receivers I’ve ever seen,” Veller said. “In addition to his excellent pass catching ability he knows what to do with the ball after he gets it. That is, he is a dangerous runner, and is an excellent pass defender.” That season, Campbell led the team with 290 receiving yards. He also had two interceptions.
