ONE TOUGH SELL
Decades after Ron Sellers wore a Seminole uniform, his name remains all over the record books. The wide receiver from Jacksonville played for FSU from 1966 to 1968, putting together one of the greatest careers in program and college football history. He enjoyed a record-setting performance against South Carolina in October 1968, snagging 16 passes for 259 yards. About a month later, he broke his own record with 260 receiving yards and an unbelievable five touchdowns in a blowout victory over Wake Forest. Notably, Sellers led the nation with 1,496 receiving yards and 86 catches (tied) that season. Sellers ended his FSU career with 3,598 receiving yards and 212 receptions, both records still high on the all-time lists. Following his final game on December 30, 1968, FSU retired Sellers’ No. 34, the second retired number in program history.
