NO. 9 FLAUNTS IT IN ’99
Superstar wide receiver Peter Warrick suited up in this helmet and these sweatbands sometime during his Seminole career from 1995 to 1999. The Bradenton native was twice a First-Team All-American, including a unanimous selection during his redshirt senior campaign. That season, Warrick compiled 934 yards, 71 receptions — a program record second only to WR Ron Sellers — and eight touchdown catches. Warrick reached 100 receiving yards in six of the 10 games he played, including an explosive 163 yards in the 2000 Sugar Bowl en route to the National Championship. “He’s the best player in the country,” said QB Chris Weinke after Warrick took home Sugar Bowl MVP honors. “Anybody who watched the game tonight now has to believe he’s the best player in the country. You saw what happens when he touches the football.” FSU recognized Warrick’s achievements by retiring his No. 9 jersey in 2018.
