MAPPING OUT SUCCESS
F Doug Edwards earned conference honors in each of his three seasons as a Seminole. He was named Second Team All-Conference as part of the Metro in 1991 and Second Team All-Conference in 1992 and 1993 after FSU joined the ACC. Edwards excelled as a senior the 1992-93 season, averaging 18.3 points and a team-high 9.4 rebounds per game. As the Noles made a run to the Elite Eight that postseason, Edwards scored in double digits in four tournament games. His 22 points and 12 rebounds led the way in a second-round blowout over No. 11 Tulane. “We have gone from relative obscurity when we took over seven years ago to being a team of national focus, and Douglas is the main guy,” said coach Pat Kennedy. Added assistant coach David Zimroth, “[Edwards] put us on the basketball map.”
