Teammates called 6-foot-10 C/F Reggie Royals “Tree” (left) for his size and presence in the paint. He lived up to the name on the sport’s biggest stage, powering FSU with 15 points and 10 rebounds in the 1972 title game against UCLA. Royals finished his FSU career with more than 1,400 points and 1,000 rebounds before being drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in 1973. C Lawrence McCray (right) added eight points and six rebounds in the 1972 championship and went on to be selected by the New Orleans Jazz in the 1974 NBA Draft. Together, they gave the Seminoles a frontcourt duo that stood tall in program history.
