LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON

The Noles went 8-0 in ACC play in 1999 to capture an eighth consecutive league title, with six conference victories coming by double digits. The closest call became a landmark family matchup: coach Bobby Bowden guided FSU past son Tommy Bowden’s Clemson team on the road, 17-14, the first ever Division I-A game between a father and son as opposing head coaches. The Seminoles finished the season 12-0, remained No. 1 from the preseason through the final AP poll and won the National Championship.
