This Wilson Jet B1200 basketball was used in the 1972 NCAA Tournament, and quite possibly in the championship game played March 25 at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. The Seminoles battled to the very end before falling in a hard-fought 81-76 loss to UCLA in FSU’s first national title appearance. G Ron King led the Seminoles with 27 points, while C/F Reggie Royals added 15 points and 10 rebounds against one of the era’s most dominant frontcourts. Guided by head coach Hugh Durham, FSU’s gritty effort signaled that Noles basketball could stand toe-to-toe with the nation’s best.
