Still smarting from a devasting loss in the 1999 Fiesta Bowl, FSU was determined to win it all the next season. That’s exactly what they did, never losing in 12 games in the 1999 campaign. The Seminoles dispatched No. 10 Georgia Tech, No. 20 NC State, No. 19 Miami and No. 3 Florida in ranked matchups in the regular season. QB Chris Weinke tied a program record with six touchdown passes in a blowout against Maryland. Even a narrow three-point win over Clemson in Death Valley couldn’t stop the Noles. By capping off the campaign with a Sugar Bowl victory, FSU avenged their National Championship quest from the year before.
