HARRIS ATTACKS THE RIM
Date: March 25, 1972
Senior forward Ron Harris (No. 10) drove hard to the basket against UCLA’s Marques Johnson (No. 54) in the 1972 NCAA Championship Game at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. Harris delivered a strong performance with 16 points, helping FSU stay within striking distance late in the second half. Alongside G Greg Samuel, Harris scored key baskets that cut the deficit to 77-70 with just 4:37 remaining. Despite FSU’s fight, UCLA’s depth proved too much, as the Seminoles fell 81-76. Harris’ effort symbolized the resilience of a team that had shocked the college basketball world with its run to the national title game.
