GARNET AND GOLDEN
Since 1947, the Seminole football team has provided some of college football’s greatest players and moments. And since 1950, Doak Campbell Stadium has played host to many of these instances. In recognition of the 50th season of play (along with the formation of the modern university itself) in 1997, the Seminoles decided to ring in the anniversary with a bang. A commemorative 50th anniversary logo was placed on the 25-yard line on either end of the football field in Tallahassee. This golden anniversary logo was also worn on the uniform of each player suiting up for the Garnet and Gold that campaign. The Seminoles made their fans proud, finishing the 1997 season with an 11-1 record and defeating No. 9 Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl.
