FRIER CLAIMS THE SOD
Date: January 1, 1994
Matt Frier celebrated atop teammates’ shoulders after FSU’s 18-16 victory over Nebraska in the 1994 Orange Bowl, securing the first National Championship in Seminole history. A senior WR and team captain from Live Oak, Florida, Frier caught five passes for 46 yards in the game. After the win, he carried a piece of the Orange Bowl sod, adding to the legacy of one of the program’s most cherished traditions.
