QB Charlie Ward won every award he was eligible for during the 1993 season, including the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, the first in program history. Despite all his individual accolades, Ward acknowledged that his success was dependent on his teammates. “Whatever I win, the team wins because they are the ones that helped me,” he said. “Without my teammates, none of these things would be possible.” WR Tamarick Vanover complimented Ward’s teamwork that season. “Charlie sets such a good example. This is not the day of the unselfish player, but we have an unselfish star,” he said. “The players follow the leader. Charlie’s the leader.”
