FINAL WORD IN THE FRENCH QUARTER
Date: January 2, 1995
The rivalry demanded one more round in the 1994 season. No. 7 FSU met No. 5 Florida in the Sugar Bowl after the in-state rivals completed a regular-season 31-31 tie at Doak Campbell Stadium with a rematch billed as the “Fifth Quarter in the French Quarter.” RB Warrick Dunn threw a 73-yard touchdown pass to WR ’Omar Ellison on a trick play, and the Seminole defense limited the Gators to five rushing yards. FSU won the showdown at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, 23-17, finishing the 1994 season 10-1-1 and claiming the final word in a two-game rivalry saga.
