CHAMPIONSHIP CHEERING
Date: March 25, 1972
“Super ball,” one fan said at halftime, “you don’t see college basketball like this.” The atmosphere inside the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena on March 25, 1972, was electric as 15,063 fans packed the stands for the championship clash between FSU and UCLA. Noles cheerleaders worked the sidelines, keeping the crowd energized as the game unfolded. Opened in 1959 and home to countless historic sports moments, the arena was an iconic backdrop for the FSU’s NCAA title game appearance. The intensity of the fans helped create one of the most memorable nights in Seminole basketball history.
