BOWDEN’S 300TH CAREER VICTORY
Seminole head coach Bobby Bowden tipped his cap while being hoisted by players after earning his 300th career victory on November 13, 2004. The historic win came in dramatic fashion, as the Seminoles edged the Clemson Tigers, 17-10, in Death Valley. Bowden became just the second coach in major college football history to reach the 300-win mark, joining Joe Paterno of Penn State in that elite tier. The hard-fought road victory was a fitting way to mark the milestone, underscoring Bowden’s longevity, leadership and the loyalty of the teams he built over decades. The 2004 season was another solid campaign for FSU, who finished 9-3 and advanced to the Gator Bowl. But this win stands apart as one of the defining moments of Bowden’s storied career.
