BACK ON COLLEGE FOOTBALL’S BIGGEST STAGE

The defending National Champion Seminoles returned to college football’s final stage in the 2001 Orange Bowl, played at Pro Player Stadium in Miami. Heisman Trophy-winning QB Chris Weinke led No. 3 FSU against unbeaten No. 1 Oklahoma, but the Seminoles fell in the low-scoring affair, 13-2. The result ended an 11-2 season that featured an 8-0 ACC record and a ninth consecutive conference championship.
