ALLEN’S ALMIGHTY PERFORMANCE
Date: 1982 Season
The 1982 football team overcame an early Week 2 loss to No. 2 Pittsburgh to win the next seven games convincingly. However, two late-season losses set up a Gator Bowl matchup against the West Virginia Mountaineers. To break open the game, return specialist Billy Allen took the ball 95 yards to the house. “It was just like I dreamed it,” Allen said. “Last night I just knew if they kicked me the ball, I was going to score.” From there, the Noles never looked back. The nation’s leading scorer RB Greg Allen ran for 138 yards and two touchdowns as FSU overpowered West Virginia, 31-12.
