ALL OVER THE FIELD
Catcher Buster Posey received this gold-plated baseball bat as the ABCA/Rawlings 2008 Player of the Year. Posey proved why he deserved the award across many moments that season, though none more defining than his performance on May 12, 2008. In a remarkable feat, Posey played in all nine fielding positions in 10-0, seven-inning win over Savannah State at home. Not only was he influential in the field, he also hit a grand slam to ensure a Seminole victory. “It’s a clear indication of the talent of Buster Posey,” coach Mike Martin said, “because we’ve had a lot of great players but they just were not talented enough to play all nine [positions]. And I’ll be honest with you — I was never concerned wherever he was.” Posey became the fourth Seminole to play nine positions in one game and the first since Mike Martin Jr. in 1994.
