A TROPHY AT LAST
This NCAA Division I women’s soccer championship trophy marked FSU’s breakthrough 2014 season, when the Seminoles captured their first national title. No. 2 FSU defeated No. 4 Virginia 1-0 in the College Cup Final behind F Jamia Fields’ decisive goal, capping a campaign that ended with a 24-1-1 record, a program-best 19 shutouts and an NCAA Tournament run without giving up a single goal. Reflecting on the accomplishment, coach Mark Krikorian said, “We’ve been close before, but this group showed the quality and character to finish it off.” Six Seminoles landed on the College Cup All-Tournament Team: Fields, F Cheyna Williams, M Dagny Brynjarsdottir, D Kristin Grubka, GK Cassie Miller and M Isabella Schmid.
