A GRAND VICTORY
Date: May 6, 1999
With a 2-1 victory in the first game of a doubleheader against South Florida, Dr. JoAnne Graf picked up her 1,000th career win. She became just the second collegiate softball coach to reach the mark after Cal State-Fullerton’s Judi Garman. “As a coach, you’re looking for consistency, that year after year, you’re a contender,” Garman said. “JoAnne’s done that. Florida State’s always ranked and is always a team that’s one of the best.” Over 30 years coaching slow-pitch and fast-pitch softball in Tallahassee, Dr. Graf had 15 50-win seasons and 25 40-win seasons. Her 1,437 career wins and 75 percent winning percentage remain among the best in college softball history.
