10 OUT OF 10
LB Derrick Brooks was one of the greatest defensive backers of his generation, earning consensus All-American honors in 1993 and unanimous All-American honors in 1994. During one stretch in his junior season, Brooks scored touchdowns in three consecutive games — one fumble recovery for 83 yards and a pair of pick-sixes. Known for his dominating presence, surprisingly quick feet and rallying leadership, Brooks won the 1993 ACC Defensive Player of the Year Award and the 1994 Jack Lambert Trophy as the nation’s top linebacker. The College Football Hall of Fame cemented his place in the annals of the sport by inducting him in 2016. Previously, FSU retired Brooks’ No. 10 jersey on November 13, 2010. “There’s no secret to my love for this university, as well as the coaches that coached me while I was here,” Brooks said about the honor.
