LOUD AND PROUD

FSU fans have always been known to show their spirit. Seminole boosters decided to put that to the test with the construction of the Spirit Spear, located in the south end zone at Doak Campbell Stadium. The spear debuted in the 1984 season opener against East Carolina. The gigantic electric spear’s feathers would light up, moving towards the top as crowd noise increased. When the fan noise reached peak level, the spearpoint burst into an electric flame. The Spirit Spear rallied the Seminole faithful throughout the rest of the 1980s before it was removed in 1990 as a part of renovations to Doak Campbell Stadium.
