HONORING THE BEST
This vintage football commemorates the 1972 Kodak All-America Team, featuring signatures from the top college players in the country that season. The roster, selected by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), was a coveted honor earned through excellence and consistency on the field. FSU receiver Barry Smith was the lone Seminole representative on the AFCA team in 1972, earning the accolade after a season in which he caught 69 passes for 1,243 yards and 13 touchdowns. Teammates QB Gary Huff and DB James “J.T.” Thomas were also recognized as All-Americans by other organizations. The football is a rare piece of memorabilia that marks a season when FSU’s offensive firepower turned national heads.
