BUCKLEY’S BIG BOWL
CB Terrell Buckley joined a prestigious group in 2023 when he was inducted into the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame. As one of the sport’s oldest and most storied postseason games, the Cotton Bowl began honoring individuals’ contributions in 1998. Buckley was the first Seminole elected to the Hall of Fame, highlighted by his work against Texas A&M in the 56th Cotton Bowl Classic in 1992. The Jim Thorpe Award winner had four punt returns, two pass breakups, two unassisted tackles and a tackle for loss. Buckley’s most important play came just before halftime, when he intercepted a pass in the end zone to deny an Aggies touchdown. His pick helped FSU to a narrow 10-2 victory and the first Cotton Bowl win in program history. Buckley received another major honor in 2011, when FSU retired his No. 27 jersey.
